How to Find Your Balance Points – For Necklines and Jewellery

How to Find Your Balance Points – For Necklines and Jewellery

This is a great article for fashionistas – plus sized or not! I can’t tell you how many times I have fell in love with a piece bought it….and then total frowny face cause it doesn’t look right. I admit that I will often “fix” said pieces…and love my new pieces even more than the original! However I know that most people can not do that which makes this article so very relevant.

I am just going to highlight some of the key points…after all the link is there for you to peruse at your leisure—be sure to bookmark!

First what is Balance Point?:  It’s a concept divised by the amazing Carla Mathis which she discussed in her book The Triumph of Individual Style : A Guide to Dressing Your Body, Your Beauty, Your Self who discovered it when studying portrait art – it’s a set of measurements that create a look of ‘balance’ which we find attractive and appealing.

Here is her diagram to give you an idea of where they are and how to measure for them:

veddy veddy interesting…so for all you ladies who keep finding accessories that you feel don’t fit properly, save to refer back to later!

Whats in a name?

This post is inspired by post from a great blog resource website – BlogEnergizer.com -

March 6-12 is Celebrate Your Name Week. No matter what niche your business is in, there is plenty for you to blog about during this week. Here are a few suggestions:

I wanted to talk about my decision to name my new venture, Tiff’s Glitz & Glam. Even though I am not what you would call a girly girl, I love my sparkly stuff. Rings, necklaces, other accessories and sexy shoes are the things that MAKE an outfit. With that in mind I decided to showcase items that attract my eye when I am choosing items from my vendors. These are not just items that I buy boxes of and list on a website. I personally look over pages and pages (and sometimes even more pages) for funky, unique, eclectic pieces that speak to me….and should speak to my potential customers. I know that I rarely buy pieces that come from a rack that has 30 other identical pieces like it. I like my jewelry and shoes to spark comments like that’s so unusual..or I never seen those before!

I could have chosen a name that was less specific but when deciding on my brand I wanted to make it personal. I did not want to be another faceless boring internet shopping website. I want my customers to know that I am a real person who is doing what she loves!

What I thought I was gonna write about

a topic from BlogEnergizer – Whats In A Name?. I thought that it would be a good introductory topic that goes well with the v7 blog challenge. However that will have to be tomorrow’s entry as I just spent last 3 hours plugging html code into validator.w3.org trying to get my “LATE” web design class assignment to validate error free. No such luck. No matter what I changed or tried, I ended up with more errors than I started out with. I decided to keep the one error and one warning and enclose text  file explaining why I could not submit my project error free.

PROCRASTINATION!

I waited until last moment to do the assignment and then could not complete it correctly because I ran out of time. I am sure if I had worked on it earlier in the week I would have time to research my issue. Instead I had a full day of getting all 7 kids up and at em for school. I straightened my two youngest daughters heads….bought almost $400 worth of groceries, and then after being up almost 16 hours, I went to work on this project.

No More Procrastination
